Welcome to the PosterSpy creative brief for THE ART OF SELF-DEFENSE, the new dark comedy set in the world of karate starring Jesse Eisenberg, Alessandro Nivola, and Imogen Poots. To celebrate the US release, PosterSpy invites you to create a poster that evokes the humor, absurdity, and the darkness of the film.
THE ART OF SELF-DEFENSE is in select US cinemas 12th July 2019 and nationwide in the US on 19th July.
Jesse Eisenberg stars as Casey, a nebbish accountant who is randomly attacked on the street and enlists in a local dojo led by a charismatic and mysterious Sensei (Alessandro Nivola) in an effort to learn how to defend himself.
What he uncovers is a sinister world of fraternity, violence and hypermasculinity and a woman (Imogen Poots) fighting for her place in it. Casey undertakes a journey, both frightening and darkly funny, that will place him squarely in the sights of his enigmatic new mentor.
Entrants are encouraged to draw on the film’s dark, bizarre, and ridiculously funny themes and premise using the trailer and supplied stills, including the photo of the canine star of the film, as inspiration.
Please also find stills and all available assets via the “inspiration” tab for further reference and inspiration only.
Create your posters at A4 300dpi minimum. Landscape or Portrait layout.
Upload posters to PosterSpy.com as RGB files no larger than 5MB and 1500 pixels wide.
Arwork submitted must be 100% your own original content. Do not use any images you don’t have the rights to. This includes stills from the film.
