Marvel Studios has always been at the forefront of innovation when it comes to its film and television projects. From stunning visual effects to groundbreaking storytelling, they have consistently pushed the boundaries of what is possible on the big and small screens. However, their latest venture into the world of AI art for the opening titles of “Secret Invasion” has sparked dissatisfaction on Twitter among fans and artists alike.
Very disappointed that Marvel Studios decided to use AI for the opening credits of Secret Invasion.https://t.co/uojLB4TdOl pic.twitter.com/iSgA7qm4o7

“Secret Invasion,” based on the Marvel Comics event of the same name, promises to be an epic storyline filled with intrigue, deception, and shape-shifting Skrulls. The opening titles of any project are crucial in setting the tone and building anticipation, and Marvel Studios decided to experiment with AI art to create a unique visual experience for viewers.
AdvertisementTwitter became a hotbed of discontent as fans and artists expressed their disappointment with the AI-generated opening titles. More than anything they criticised the artistic quality compared to shows like She-Hulk (which has awesome titles).
going from the beautiful end credits of She-Hulk to the AI mush opening credits of Secret Invasion sucks so much ass pic.twitter.com/nYik20P9Sm

Part of the dissatisfaction stems from the concern that the adoption of AI art in studios could potentially lead to a decline in work for artists. As technology continues to advance, there is a fear that human artists may be sidelined or replaced altogether. The use of AI in this context raises questions about the value of human creativity and the unique perspectives and experiences that artists bring to their work. Especially coming from a studio like Marvel that is built on the backs of hard-working artists.
I need people to focus on the real issue here: the value of creative labor, aka jobs. This is not about whether or not it qualifies as "art", whether or not it looks bad, etc. All of that is a just a distraction when we live in a world where we need to work to in order to live. https://t.co/VP4E5yd4K5

Yes, Nick Fury has a face with a face in it.
The disappointment from artists and fans serves as a reminder of the irreplaceable qualities of human art. Artists have the ability to infuse their creations with their emotions, unique styles, and interpretations of the world. These elements are difficult to replicate with AI. Often leading to art devoid of emotion and evidently, skill.
As the dust settles on the Twitter storm surrounding the AI art in Marvel Studios’ “Secret Invasion,” it remains to be seen how the studio will respond. We’re hoping the reaction will encourage a reconsideration of AI’s role in their films and tv shows going forward. And conversations like this will hopefully lead to a better treatment of artists and the creative industry.
What do you think to the opening titles?
this is unreal bs. total garbage. I can’t believe Marvel, out of all companies would do this. I’m not watching because of this.
Yeah I’m probably going to skip it purely for this.
