Before 2020, CCNA, CCNP, and CCIE are separate certification exams. To take the CCNP exam, you need to firstly pass CCNA exam. But now everything has changed. In 2020, Cisco has adopted a new model.

I think you have knew more or less about the changes. For instance, CCNA certification is no longer divided into multiple directions. All directions are called CCNA exam. CCDA is changed into CCNA Devnet. To take the CCNP certification exam, you do not have to participate in CCNA exam. Three exams of CCNP has been shifted into 1+1 mode, namely, one core exam (300-401 and CCIE EI certification the same written exam) + one optional exam. CCIE RS is turned into CCIE EI certification. CCIE Wireless certification is changed into CCIE Enterprise Wireless certification. The CCIE enterprise exam consists of written exam (350-401 and CCNP certification core exam), design (3 hours) and deployment optimization (5 hours). The validity time of CCIE certification is three-year.

What is worth paying attention to?

CCIE RS certification will be canceled replaced by CCIE Enterprise Infrastructure.

The exam mode of CCIE is transformed into : written exam (300-401and CCNP certification core exam) + design (3 hours) + deployment optimization (5 hours).

The CCIE Enterprise Infrastructure lab requires that the network engineers should not only have the ability to implement post-sales techniques but to have certain network programming and scripting language capabilities. These requirements will bring some changes.

The routing and switching knowledge learned in universities is far from enough. Everyone needs to learn more new technologies systematically to improve their own competitiveness.
The engineers with new CCIE EI certification are more competent and valuable, thus increasing the investment return of CCIE learning.
Due to a more comprehensive learning of knowledge, CCIE engineers will develop in this direction: With traditional network as the foundation, SDN, automatic operations and network programming as assistant tools, engineers will better process increasingly complicated network environment.
The exam content hasbeen increased by more than 40%. Therefore, a batch of practitioners who rely on old skills will be outdated. A bright future belongs to the engineers having systematically learned about network. The gap between the two groups will be widened due to the differences of their basis and the changes of market.
A new promotion path may appear for network engineers. They will work on the positions involving R&D and design, instead of being the traditional pre-salesand post-sales engineers.
