Abbott & Costello Meet Frankenstein

It’s been awhile since I’ve made a poster for the fun of it, so I decided to start in on the list of pop culture related films I hadn’t tackled yet. While playing with concepts, I came up with the idea for this poster while trying to work out an earlier concept. I didn’t want to do another big heads in the center of the frame, so I decided to push the fellas farther back in frame. Originally The Monster’s shadow was to be on the ground at their feet, but I ran into the issue of where to put the title as the two overlapped. It was an accident that the Monser’s shadow ended up where it had, as while in the process of adjusting the layer’s perspective for the floor, it reset and ended up casting both their faces in half shadow. I loved the way it looked and thus, the final design.

I grew up LOVING this movie and these two guys (for you younger kids [hell, even those my age and slightly older], look it up on Netflix or IMDB, classic Vaudevillian comedy). I’m very proud of how well this turned out, considering the stock for the film is very limited if non-existant.

TIME TO COMPLETION: 3 hours, 45 minutes
