Last month we launched our Creative Brief for Panos Cosmatos’ latest movie Mandy. We teamed up with Universal UK to invite artists to create a poster for the film. Entrants were asked to evoke the film’s psychedelic, heavy-metal aesthetic in their work, using the distinctive key art, trailer and supplied film stills as inspiration. The results were outstanding.
Over 150 artists submitted work for this brief, we loved seeing all the different ideas and concepts created for Mandy and how each artist’s style came through. We want to thank every artist who took the time to submit for this brief, as there were many incredible posters created.
Director Panos Cosmatos judged the brief and tweeted before the winners were announced: “Have to say it was almost impossible to select only two pieces from the posterspy brief. So much amazing work I was moved by”

In first place, Cosmatos chose artist Giuseppe Balestra from Italy, who’s piece was created traditionally with ink, using a hatching and stippling technique and then coloured digitally. Giuseppe will be awarded £1000 for his art.
Taking the runner up prize we have Portuguese artist Pedro B. Maia who’s submission evokes an eery yet tranquil feel. Pedro will be awarded £500 for his poster submission.
