Adan Arellano

Kong and Mason share a moment. Both characters seem to have been caught between a rock and hot place. Curious to see how their characters play out in this new depiction.

Legendary and Poster Spy are inviting you to create an alternative poster for their upcoming movie KONG SKULL ISLAND, one of the biggest movies of the year, and possibly one of the most iconic film characters of all time.

In March 2017, the producers of Godzilla transport audiences to the birthplace of one of the most powerful monster myths of all in KONG: SKULL ISLAND, from Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures.

When a scientific expedition to an uncharted island awakens titanic forces of nature, a mission of discovery becomes an explosive war between monster and man. Tom Hiddleston, Samuel L. Jackson, Brie Larson, John Goodman and John C. Reilly star in a thrilling and original new adventure that reveals the untold story of how Kong became King.

Directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts, his cinematic vision has reimagined Kong at the largest ever seen on screen with Kong being over one hundred feet tall. The character design brings to life a new Kong with the emotional solitude of being the last of his kind.

The story:
The year is 1973. Somewhere in our world, it is said that there exists a wondrous island unspoiled by man – a land shrouded in mystery, where myth runs wild. Uncharted and undiscovered.

When the secretive organization known as Monarch identify this destination as the origin point for mysterious new superspecies, they mount an expedition to discover its secrets.

What they find on Skull Island is an adventure beyond any human experience. An exotic paradise of wonders and terrors, where flora and fauna have fused together into an Eden of otherworldly jungle creatures.

As one group fights to escape and the other declares war on Kong, we discover that the mighty primate is at the center of a battle for dominion over the island, locked into a ‘survival of the fittest’ face-off with the terrifying apex predators responsible for wiping out his kin.

Driven by vengeance, Kong will become nature’s fury, and fight to take his rightful place upon the throne of most powerful beast on the island, revealing the story of how Kong became King.

Design Tips:
Please focus on Kong for the artwork as we are looking to hold an exhibition at the premiere event in London and Los Angeles, where your art may be selected to be on display. The winning entries will be judged by Legendary who will be looking for creative showcasing of this iconic monster. You may use a broad range of styles for inspiration from tribal art, to street art to your own style of creating. We want to draw from the zeitgeist of this amazingly cinematic character and create something truly unique by redefining Kong for a new generation.

Legendary are looking for Illustrated posters, photos provided are to be used for reference only. Please reference the trailer and pay attention to the size of Kong when placed with other objects. He is 100ft tall! The film is entirely set on Skull Island.

The poster must be A2 300dpi. Please supply RGB.
