Artists submit for Time and Space Challenge to Explore New Techniques

In May we set up a Time and Space art challenge, encouraging artists to try new techniques. Unlike our Creative Briefs which offered monetary incentives, the only incentive of our Art Challenges is personal improvement and experimentation outside what artists usually create.

As expected this didn’t receive as many submissions as our Creative Briefs would have, but that’s ok. Long term we will be thinking about incentives for these Art Challenges but this may be difficult without making them competitions.

One submission we found particularly interesting was by artist Nuno Sarnadas aka . Who explains that he “Decided to go on a slightly different direction and make a more illustrated and surreal composition for the Time and Space theme of the challenge.” We love the abstract and surreal aspect to this piece. Especially compared to Nuno’s usual work.

Another interesting submission by artist really captures the ideal of Time and Space literally, but that doesn’t take away from the great work here. The idea behind this piece was to “capture the moment when the time-space traveller meets himself… at the end of the journey.”

Finally, we have this piece by who took the topic of Time and Space to inspire a piece revolving around Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey. A great way to explore new styles, techniques and to show some love for a great movie!

Stay tuned for our next Art Challenge which will be announced soon!
