At the end of each year we invite artists to submit their portfolios as part of our Annual Portfolio Review contest. This year we had 6 industry pros on the panel; Grzegorz Domaradzki, Bartosz Kosowski, Karl Fitzgerald, Joshua Budich, Chris Thornley and Michelle Gardiner. After 4 weeks of judging, grading and critiquing, the 6 judges found their top 10 from hundreds of submissions.
This year we will be showcasing the 10 shortlisted artists at our first ever Portfolio Review exhibition in London from April 5th to the 6th.
Friday 5th April
Join us Friday the 5th at 6pm for the grand opening and unveiling of the 10 shortlisted artists including the grand prize winner and 2 runners up.
Food and drink is free for the evening, and will include pizza, snacks, beer and other favourites.*
Pizza will be provided by Shoreditch based Voodoo Ray’s, who bake massive 22” New York-style pizza. Their innovative pies combine high quality ingredients with unique flavour combinations for an exceptional slice. Two of their slices is equivalent to a whole 11” pizza!
Beers will be provided by Brockley Brewery, who brew their own beer in South East London. Brockley Brewery do their bit to support the local community and we know what that’s all about, so we’re excited to have them on board.
At 7pm enjoy our special Q&A with this year’s grand prize winner as we ask them all about their work!
After the Q&A session you’re welcome to network, enjoy the art, eat, drink and relax until the doors close at 10pm.
Saturday 6th April
On Saturday, we have two special industry talks scheduled. Doors open at 11am.
At 2pm join us for an industry talk with Doaly, a UK based artist who has worked for some of the world’s biggest studios. Doaly will be talking through his workflow, his experiences in the industry and more. Followed by a Q&A.
At 4pm, join us for an industry talk with UK based artist Dan Mumford, who will be talking through his experiences, his screen printing techniques and how he has become one of the illustration industry’s most recognisable artists. Followed by a Q&A.
For both talks guests are welcome to bring their Doaly or Dan Mumford posters to be signed.
Doors close at 7pm.
During both Friday and Saturday, copies of PosterSpy: An Alternative Movie Poster will be on sale as well as some apparel from LuchaPop! Card payments only.
